As a Realtor, my findings are that people do not read anymore, they search the internet.
Best advice to get your property sold, list it with a Realtor who has the ability to reach 100's of thousands of buyers a homeowner will never be able to get in front of.

Only agents/brokers can put listings in the MLS. If you are looking to rent and/ or sell your property, an agent would help you through the entire process( Marketing, pricing, screening qualified buyers and/ or tenants, etc)

Again NJ, I advise start with one of HUD’s approved housing counselors in your area. HUD sponsors housing counseling agencies throughout the country that can provide advice on buying a home, renting, defaults, foreclosures, and credit issues. If you are facing foreclosure, foreclosure avoidance counselors are also available. HUD approved counselors are offering the most current and valuable advice to their clients. (800) 569-4287.

Long Islnad City and Astoria have views of Manhattan and have the 7 and N train. Sunnyside, Woodside, Jackson Heights all are along the 7 line. Forrest Hills has several trains stops along Queens Blvd. on the other hand, a nieghborhood such as Whitestone is about 60-70 minutes to the Wall St area with a bus and train ride.
Each of these neighborhoods offer different housing options and price ranges. The key questions are: What are you looking for (co-op, condo, or single family home), what is your price range, and what trade-offs are you willing to make. For example, Long Island City has great co-ops & condos that are one train stop to NYC, but they are expensive compared to other units in Queens.
Good Luck

Hello Opuni. It's always a good idea to buy property. Specific location is a high priority for pretty much all buyers for various reasons. Proximity to the Roosevelt ave subway stop can be a major deciding factor and is a tangible aspect of purchasing.
The concept of a Coop as an investment is less reasonable. If you mean that now is probably the best time to buy for a multitude of reasons including appreciation then I say yes, it's a good investmentand should be held for years. If you mean a good investment to rent then I would disagree as Coops are not the best investment vehicles in that regard.
In Jackson Heights there are many Coop buildings. I wish you all the best in your search. I'm sure you'll find something special.... more
It's possible assessments have a factor as well--why not review what is included in the charges before making a determination to buy or not, in that particular complex or any other for that matter--you have many properties to choose from, therefore choose the one that best fits your needs, budget wise and lifestyle wise.... more

While both boroughs have their strong points, Brooklyn is the better choice. If you love food, Brooklyn homes DeFara, L&B, and Grimaldis. The three best pizzerias in NYC. We also have Peter Luger's, voted best steak house in the country by Bon Appetite Magazine. We have the brooklyn botanical garden, brooklyn bridge park, and prospect park, giving beauty and class to our fine borough. In the terms of culture, "fuggettaboutit". We have class brown stone homes, and beautiful, new, modern apt. complexes being built. Brooklyn is the home of some of the best comedians and rappers of all time as well as the home of the "New York" accent (basically the Italian accent).
Queens hold Citifield and Queens Center Mall. In terms of eatery, Queens is only known for cheap Korean cuisine. Flushing might be a main street for asian culture, but has nothing in particular to boast as their own. One thing Queens does have which isn't found anywhere else in the city would be Spa Castle, which is more of an interactive pool rather than a spa.... more
