Your agent can best advise you; if the opportunity arises chat with some residents, ask your attorney to review the building's financials and all other related paperwork--then make your determination....... more
I am a former resident who was forced to foreclose because of the management of the coop. We had to relocate overseas to care for a sick parent and had a contract before we moved. The sale was so close we actually received the pay-off notice from the bank. It took two and a half months for an interview to be scheduled. We were told after we moved that our buyer was rejected. No one ever gave us a reason why. In fact no one has ever contacted us except for the Coop's lawyer to start foreclosure proceedings. You don't actually own your shares if you can't sell and aren't told why. Do yourselves a favor and tell everyone you know NEVER to by there. It was a financial disaster for us. It will be for you too. In case you think I am a spammer, my name is Eric Gulotty. I lived in 103B. Unlike the people who run that Coop, I will happily reply to any inquiries.... more
You should consider all options. Obviously without more specific information its hard to give you the proper advice. You may consider selling and moving into a building with lower maintenance charges. I believe owning is much better than renting and throwing the money away basically. When you own you are paying towards in investment. If you would like to sit down and give me more information I can definately give you some advice and show you what options are out there for you.
Feel free to contact me at anytime and goodluck!

Before going into contract and once you have an accepted offer have your attorney review with you all related information--then make a determination to buy or not-- or you may contact management directly and ask all your questions--or ask your agent to gather the information for review.... more
It's possible assessments have a factor as well--why not review what is included in the charges before making a determination to buy or not, in that particular complex or any other for that matter--you have many properties to choose from, therefore choose the one that best fits your needs, budget wise and lifestyle wise.... more
Hi Shirley. I am well aware of Dara Gardens. Regarding prices, they are very reasonable and you get a good value as the apartment sizes while not hugh, are certainly well sized.
The complex is very well maintained. Here's their website:

If I can be of further assistance, please feel free to contact me directly.

Hi Geir,
Parkway Village is absolutely lovely, however, the maintenance on a 2 bedroom garden apartment is approximately $1073. If that is something you and the family would consider as a feasible partial tax write off, then I live minutes away and would be more than happy to show you a GB that is available there, or something of your choice in the general neighborhood with lower maintenance costs.

Hi,
I looked at several properties for sale in Parkway Village. I liked the garden feeling and some of the properties (especially some duplexes) were attractively laid out. Others even had a yard. On the negative side, the exterior entrances were in poor repair and most of all, maintenance charges are ridiculously high (about 1,024) compared to other garden apartments.
