In answer to your question, Glen Head is not actaully that close to the beach , it is a lttle over a mile and a half. There are other communities in the area, Glen Cove, Glennwood Landing, Sea Cliff, Glen Cove, Lattingtown, Mill Neck, Oyster Bay, Bayville, Cove Neck, Centre Island, and Oyster Bay Cove all near or on the water.
Alot will depend on your budget and how near the water you would like to be.
You can also look in the http://www.mlsli.com/, truila, your local newspapers and you can always sign up for a listingbook account here http://jonivanst.listingbook.com/
I would suggest you work with an agent because of one factor less of a headache for you. A realtor can help you find exactly what you are looking for including if you have any specific requirements (it could be anything). I hope this helps.
I would be happy to help you in your search for your new home and you can contact me at anytime.
If you would like any assistance you can contact me at any time

I live in close proximity to that neighborhood.
The house, pool and yard are really nice for the price. A similar house no where near Dunkin Donuts of the train would go for hundreds of thousands more. It's a toss up.... more
It is traditional that the seller pay the transfer tax, survey and title search on existing homes in Western New York,. What is in your pre-written contract? Builders many times don't pay it but, that is on NEW, not existing. Do you have an agent? Ask them for advise or call the legal services in your area.... more
