kelli,
Let me start by saying that in North Carolina it is against the law to steer a person or family toward one neighborhood or away from a neighborhood or area. However; thoguh I cannot give you my opinion on the neighborhood I can tell you where to go to find out the relevant information you need to make an informed descsion.
That street is part of the falconbridge subdivsion. It is made up of homes primarily built in the 1970's. The popularity is subject to an individual needs and wants. i can tell you that in the last six months there have been 4 homes in that subdivision that sold. Currently there is 5 on the market active right now. A balanced market (one that favors neither a buyer or a seller is considered to be six months of inventory avaialble). based on the past six months this neighborhood is pretty close to that.
The schools slated for that neighborhood are Pineville elementary school, Quaill Hollow Middle School and South mecklenburg High School. for additional information as to how schools perform in the charlotte area against other schools in the area and the state I found www.ncreportcard.org to be a great site. it will show you how the schools are trending, how they are doing against other schools in the area as well as the state.
In terms of safety and crime rate. No one can give you a definitive answer as to what that is. What one person may view as safe another may view as unsafe. The best thing I recommend to every client is to go to the charlotte website and type in the address and hit the crime stats for the area. It is www.charmeck.org
I hope this helps you out. if you have any other questiosn please feel free to either e-mail me or call me at 704-519-7895.

There are 16 homes currently for sale within a mile radius from the intersection of Hwy 51 and Park Road. These homes have been in the market between 14 days at the lowest and 369 days at the highest with an average DOM of 136 days.
In the last 90 days, 14 homes have closed. These sold homes were in the market anywhere in between 3 days at the lowest and 274 at the highest with an average of 101 days. As you can see the market is pretty active in that area, but pricing your home right will make a huge difference how long it stays unsold. Would love to sit down with you to show how effectively i can market your home.... more
The HUD-VASH program is offered via Section8. It's a VA administration rental voucher. We LOVE the East side, yet open to any area with great schools. Now if there's a big back yard, hardwood floors, and a garage -we'd be extra happy!... more

Good afternoon, Jack:
If you live in 28207, all the deed restrictions will be on record in the Mecklenburg County Register of Deeds. In that zip code, you may find some restrictions that are no longer enforceable. For the most accurate information, you should hire an attorney to do a title search and advise which restrictions are applicable. You will need to make a special request to also pull any owners association records when they search title.
If you want to find out what the building restrictions are, you should go to planning and zoning to find out about setbacks and the building permit counter to ask about applicable codes and code required upgrades. There was some recent talk of a historic overlay district which may prohibit "McMansions" in the Myers Park and Dilworth areas, so you should ask about that also. If you appreciate an answer, please give "thumbs up". For the most helpful answer, please say thanks with a "best answer" click.... more
We see many credit reports with low credit scores (anything less than 620), and often many scores in the 500's. This is BAD credit. If you are one of the folks affected by this terrible economy, you have a low credit score and you have a dream of buying a home, here's some simple advice for you.
It is unlikely you could be approved for mortgage financing with that credit score at this time.
Beware of any mortgage professionals promising you an approval with such a low score. Wait on buying a home. I recommend you take the time to resolve your credit issues.
First, settle any outstanding debt. If you owe money on collection accounts, charge-offs and/or judgments, make payment arrangements and get these accounts paid promptly.
Next, begin rebuilding your credit. If you have current accounts with good payment histories, or even some previous late-payment-blemishes, make sure you continue to pay those accounts on time. If you do not have any existing credit accounts then you'll need to establish several in order to create a viable credit history.
I have found that CONSUMER ACTION is an excellent resource for objective advice on all things credit related. You'll find free and sincere advice on everything from settling collection accounts to rebuilding credit to building credit from scratch on their website http://www.consumer-action.org/.
Beware of anyone offering to "repair" your credit! The Federal Trade Commission issued a stern warning last year that such offers are scams. Find more from the FTC HERE. http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/microsites/moneymatters/dealing-with-credit-repair.shtml
The best way to buy a home is to have a decent credit history combined with sufficient Income and Assets for a home purchase.
The best way to have a decent credit history is to settle negative outstanding obligations and pay all your bills on time for at least two years.

If you have a credit score below 500, then you have some real problems and will have a hard time renting a home. You need to go to a nonprofit consumer counseling service and take advantage of their free service. Look for the one sponsored by the United Way or HUD, not some community activist group.... more
not a realtor but a parent looking @ CMS Montessori schools.
you CANNOT get into the schools unless you live within 1/4 mile of the school OR through the highly competitive lottery.
I think most people find Charlotte as a great place to live. There are a lot of people relocating here. I am a Charlotte native so I have seen a great deal of growth here. The traffic is busy but not to bad, depending on what your use to.
When checking schools a good site to visit is http://www.ncreportcard.org. This will tell you how the school is performing academically and in comparison to other schools in the Charlotte Mecklenburg school district as well as the state.
Hope this helps...

Gregg,
Your question is a little broad. the area itself is nicely situated. It is convient t the University area of Charlotte. It has easy access to 485 (with hope that one day will connect around Charlotte), easy access to hpsitals, restautants, grocery stores and all the amenties most people look for in an area close by. Yet it still gives youa country feeling out there.
If you are looking for the area in crime; noone can give you a definitive answer as to how it is. You cna have one break in and that eprson can eb the only one that tells you it is a horrible place to live. AS Realtors we are not allowed to steer people toward or away from a neighborhood. So, you have put me in a tight spot.
But, I advise people; if you see a house you like go an knock on the doors fo the neighbors around you and ask them wehat they think of the neighborhood. Check with the local police department and ask them what the criem rate is like in that neighborhood...
These are the best ways to find out whether a neighborhood is appropiate for you and your family....
