Hi Chandra, Torrey Highlands is a nice, quite little community, but growing. There are new homes being built. They are in the Poway School District, which a very good district in San Diego. I'll be happy to send you a link to schools if you are interested.
The commute time would be approximately 15 - 20 minutes, depending on the time of the day. State Route 56 has made it easier for the commuters since it was opened in 2005.
I know both Torrey Highlands and Sorrento Valley quite well, and would be happy to help you.
Best regards,

It can be a pain to rely on the bus to get out of town on a regular basis, but it can be done. For in-town trips, you can walk or take a bicycle, you can get to banks, the post office, fast food, K-Mart, convenience markets, and the grocery store without owning a car.... more

I live in Montara and used to work in Palo Alto. The best for traffic reasons even during heavy commute is 1 south to 92 then 280 south. 280 is almost always jam free opposed to 101. The Sand Hill exit on 280 worked great for me. 50 mins was pretty much the average commute time each way. No too bad. Very rarely will traffic be at a stand still on 92 during winter months but it does happen! Count on 1 or 2 work days a year to take more than 1:15 to get to work. A collison or down tree is usually to blame. I tried going down 1 south to 84, but it takes much longer than youd think. Average that trip about 1:30 mins. Beware of the high school traffic on 1 south from about 7:15-8:15 am, it will add 20 mins to your commute if you get stuck in it, no school buses. North up 1 to Pacifica then Sharp Park road to 280 is a nice back up for highway 92 jams, but it adds 10-15 mins. Hope this helps!... more
Marjorie, I have the same question. Have you figured out the best way to commute from NYC to Parsippany via public transportation? I've heard of the LakeLand Bus, but was wondering if you've actually taken it.... more
The Capitol Metro system does a great job for people looking to commute from and to downtown 7 days a week. I know that this November there is going to be a new proposal on the ballot to create a light rail system that would focus more in the UT area and downtown. If you have any more questions feel free to call, text, or email me.
Have an awesome day!

During February and March 2012 I had to travel from Centereach Ny to Manhattan via the
Midtown tunnel almost everyday. I could not have made it without my daughters Prius. It cut anywhere from half an hour to two hours each way a day depending on the traffic conditions. Once you get to Queens the HOV lane ends anyway, but most of the time I was wizzing by stopped traffic most of the way in. Well worth it if it's a possibility for you.

The very best way is to drive and walk the areas you like to see if the road noice will bother you. As long as you are a block or two away from a major artery street like Speedway, noise probably isn't an issue. Remeber it is a home and needs to be close to work and places you like to visit and shop. First, get together with a Realtor and he/she will set up free searches so you can see what is available. Also your Realtor will help you get pre-qualified for financing if that is necessary. Ley us know if we can help you and start that hunt for the right home.... more

Jeanne, there is a solid bus system in Athens itself that runs through 10 p.m. each night. In fact, the Clarke County government just proposed to end service at 8 p.m., and then reversed direction and made some cuts in some other areas to keep it running until 10--although there will be a 10-cent increase in the fare from $1.50 to $1.60. That will be the first fare increase since 2009.
The site posted in the first response is a good place to check out the routes. In general, I'd say living closer in is probably going to be your best option, as routes to outlying areas are not as plentiful as the in-town system. If you'd like some help, my team and I would be happy to let you know more...just contact me and I'll be happy to share more with you.

There are plenty of preferential factors that would come into play to assist you with making the best decision. There are a multitude of areas that meet your main criteria, but additional information would be necessary to give you proper guidance. We would have to consider your budget, the type of building that you prefer, the square footage that you are seeking, and numerous other specifications. By the way, congratulations on your promotion! Atlanta is awesome!! Check out www.Search-Atlanta-Homes.com

Good Morning,
Yes, I would absolutely check it out for yourself at peak traffic times to make sure that you are comfortable with the level of noise. If there are any particular homes that you are interested in viewing in that area, please let me know and I would be happy to show it to you. How the home is situated, and if it has double-paned windows, etc. can all dramatically affect the levels of noise you encounter.
Thanks!
