You might try the Legacy at Western Oaks. They have small yards on some of the ground floor units and do allow dogs. They do offer short term leases, but you will pay more for that freedom than you will for the same unit with a 12 month lease. If you want help please give me a call.
Sincerely,
Betina

There are some properties that allow Boxers and do short term leases. If you would like help feel free to give me a call. I primarily do home sales, but I will do a lease for a relocation client that will eventually buy a home.
Cheers,
Betina
I hope you are well! Considering you are only looking for a 3 month lease, it sounds like you may have already purchased a home. Most of the apartments will not pay a finders fee for a three month lease anyway. However, I love to work by referral, so even if you have purchased a home, if you email me, I can give you access to a website that will not only allow you to view the information, but will also give you the name and number of the apartment complex. You can search by pets and areas, etc. and call them to ensure they will allow a boxer. The site has most, but not all of the apartments/townhomes in the Austin area. Let me know if you are interested. Marsha 512-797-3903 - email: marshaross@gmail.com

I know of a good one, just email me at lisalegendsrealtor@gmail.com. Let me know what your price range is and I will get with them and see what they have. I did this for a client who was building a home.
Thanks,

While I understand some of your issues with "restricted breeds," you should not have any trouble with a shorter term lease. Try http://www.pinnacleams.com/ironrockranch/ for South and http://www.lasbrisasroundrock.com/ for north
I do not specialize in apartment locating, but if you check back with me tomorrow, I will hopefully have an updated list. In addition, I would really appreciate the opportunity to assist you in becoming familiar with the Austin Housing market.
Please feel free to contact me anytime.

Welcome to Austin! Wait till you see all of the fun things to do here! We are truly blessed and you are coming at a great time!
I would also try to lease a home for a short term (reach out to a pocket listing and see if they can lease temporarily) if you can. That way your boxer has room to roam.
Don't forget to leave your "Gone to Texas" sign back in CA.

Since the rental market here is hot at the moment, more and more apartments and some landlords are offering short term leases for people.
Call me and I will help you to find some solutions to fit your price range and timeframe.
