How to rent a trailer?

Asked by Heatherxashley, Bay Shore, NY Mon Mar 28, 2011

I replied to 2 trailers. One of them said to rent it was 75$ a month. Another said rent was 750 a month. How do I rent the 75/month one?

You mentioned below, "It also said there was ones for 240, 140.. etc..", again not sure where you saw the ads, but scams do exist, therefore always proceed with caution--also check out http://www.mlsli.com for current available rentals in Bay Shore listed on MLS...

One other possibility: The $75 a month is for the rental of the trailer. However, if it's in a park, you might also be responsible for the land lease (ground rent) which could be an additional several hundred dollars or more a month. I recently sold a manufactured home--not rent, but sold--for $210 a month. (Purchase price was about $13,000 over a 5 year term.) However, the ground rent--which includes everything from a swimming pool to tennis courts to gated security to a rec center--is an additional $800 a month. That $800 is on the high side, but lots of places charge $300-$500 a month for ground rent.

Hope that helps.

The $75 per month is more than likely an error--not sure where you saw the ad(s), but you can try contacting them and ask for clarification on the rental price....

Sounds like it was a typo, just because someone has a typo in the ad does not mean they must, by law, honor it. $75/mo is pretty hard to believe for more than a tent.
