There are renters rights in the state of California. ( google California renter rights ) I suggest you look them up to get an idea before someone comes to your door. You can also consult with an attorney.
If you have a lease, make it handy you will need it and you may want to make a copy to hand to the new owner. Consult with your attorney first. You will be required to pay the new owner the rent. If you want out of the lease you were in, then now may be the time - consult your real estate attorney.
